Fingal Bay
Fingal Bay originally called False Bay. The entrance was often in days of sail and steam mistaken for the entrance into Port Stephens. One of the only two patrolled surf beaches in Port Stephens and closest to Nelson and Shoal Bay. The beach is very popular with surfers and is protected by the headland in the southern corner and opens to the ocean swell further up the beach. This magnificent beach with an infamous walk across "the spit" to view burnt out ruins of the outer lighthouse residence and breathtaking views of Fingal Head. There is some great fishing off the beach as well as the Headlands.
